Using your insurance is always OPTIONAL — even if Balance Point is in-network with your insurance, you can choose to self pay. Some people choose this for complete confidentiality. (Yes, insurance plans have a right to request information regarding diagnosis, treatment, and progress for clients and sessions they are sending reimbursement payments for — even when using out-of-network benefits.)
As a courtesy, if Balance Point is an in-network provider with your insurance, we will bill the session fee to your insurance. Copays and coinsurance are due at the time of session. Depending on your insurance plan, there may be deductibles that will be due out of pocket after insurance has been billed. If there are any balances due after billing your insurance, you will be invoiced through Balance Point for the outstanding balances.
If Balance Point is not an in-network provider with your insurance and you would like to bill your insurance for out-of-network benefits, we are happy to help! We will provide superbills and receipts at no additional charge. If the insurance company is requiring further documentation or reporting, fees may apply (see Fees section). Full payment for sessions will be invoiced to you at the time of your session; we do not allow time for out-of-network reimbursement before payment is expected.
